HEE Internship Archive
The Internship Programme is designed to support those colleagues working in health and care environments to develop skills and capacity for research, evaluation and evidence-based decision-making, enabling employees to become more effective in their roles through developing their research capability. Participants in the programme will be able to learn more about research and how to apply that learning in his/her job role by being involved in a live project with the benefit of formal research supervision. In addition to the experience gained by working in a research environment, the internships will also provide flexible opportunities for individuals to develop their research knowledge by undertaking a short-course or module-based study. A maximum commitment of approximately 30 days will be required for the internship and it will very much be targeted at individuals who are at pre masters stage taking on small and discreet projects.
The Scheme runs on an annual basis and is funded by HEE and delivered by NHS R&D NW. The internships are open to registered Health Professionals working in the NHS in England and aim to:
- increase understanding of what it means to be involved in clinical academic research
- develop research skills and expertise
- enhance ability to become a research champion within a clinical setting
- inform decisions about progressing further in a clinical academic career
