HEE Internship Cohort 2016/2017

When and where?

A total of 27 candidates were give the opportunity to take part in cohort 3 of the HEE/NIHR ICA Internship Programme in 2016.  The 6 month programme began in September 2016 with a 2 day residential in Bolton and ended in February 2017 when all 27 interns came together again in Newcastle.

Aim, content & highlights:

The first rung on the research ladder, and our last residential!

The 27 interns on the 2016-17 Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) programme all spent their last residential together, attending workshops, listening to influential healthcare researchers, and presenting their preliminary research findings to the rest of the cohort of early career researchers. The group then met again in September to attend the NHS RD NW Let’s Talk Research annual conference in Manchester when they presented their posters.

The 2016-17 cohort included interns from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Central Manchester Foundation Trust, Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS FT, City Hospitals Sunderland, Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS FT, and more.

Professions included; Physiotherapist, Neonatal Nurse, CT Radiographer, Drama therapist, Occupational Therapist, and more.
