The Falcon MoonShot research study, sponsored by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), sought to determine the accuracy and efficacy of lateral flow devices to detect Covid antigens using saliva and nasopharyngeal samples from Covid positive participants. The study team looked to Greater Manchester’s NIHR Clinical Research Network Delivery Team to get the study off the ground quickly. The Team consisted of experienced research nurses, research practitioners and trials administrators, who support sites across the region delivering NIHR portfolio research trials – this is their story. 

Dysphagia

What’s the story

What’s the STORY (Serological testing of Representative Youngsters) is a sero-epidemiology study led by the University of Oxford that was delivered across England to assess serological protection against vaccine preventable diseases in 0-24 year olds. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, the study was adapted to evaluate the presence of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. The study was given Urgent Public Health status and thus seen as a national priority and led by Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) and the NIHR Manchester Clinical Research Facility (CRF) in collaboration with St John’s Ambulance.  See their story.

NROL

NeuroRehabilitation OnLine (NROL) is a group rehabilitation programme for people who have had a stroke or have other neurological conditions. The aim of NROL is to provide additional group-based rehabilitation sessions to people in their own homes, to increase access and opportunity for neurorehabilitation and encourage social support as part of a community. Watch how the programme led by 4 NHS partner Trusts across Lancashire and South Cumbria (East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) began life as a research project.
