Supporting Personal Development Through NIHR INSIGHT Programme North West

Empowering Healthcare Professionals with Research Opportunities

The NIHR INSIGHT Programme North West is a transformative initiative aimed at fostering research capacity among healthcare, social work, and public health professionals. With applications now open for the second round of Research Masters Studentships, this programme offers an exceptional opportunity for professionals to advance their careers while contributing to impactful research that addresses pressing health and social care challenges.

What is the NIHR INSIGHT Programme?

The INSIGHT Programme, led by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in collaboration with regional universities and over 30 health and social care partners, is part of a nationwide effort to build a highly skilled research workforce. Funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), this initiative focuses on:

  • Training newly qualified professionals to integrate research into their practice.
  • Addressing regional health priorities such as mental health, ageing populations, and healthcare inequalities.
  • Bridging the gap between academic research and practical application in health and social care settings.

Why Should Employers Get Involved?

Employers in healthcare, social work, and public health can benefit significantly from encouraging staff participation in the INSIGHT Programme. By supporting employees in pursuing Research Masters Studentships, organisations can:

  • Enhance their workforce’s research capabilities.
  • Foster evidence-based practice that improves patient outcomes.
  • Build leadership skills within their teams.
