North West is home to various world-class research infrastructure and expertise; however we did not have any comprehensive information regarding the excellent facilities we have in the region to promote health related R&D. NHS North West R&D therefore commissioned a study to understand our strengths and weaknesses regarding our research infrastructure and to analyse how to improve the current situation.
The study which followed aimed to create a holistic picture by analysing the health research in the entire North West using different perspectives and the two approaches which were mainly used in the study: To analyse the research facilities based on different phases of the innovation pathway like Early phase, Later Phase and Adoption & Diffusion To analyse the research facilities based on different research areas which are mostly the research strengths/focus areas of North West.
