Post-Doctoral Community of Practice
NHS R&D North West has created a Post Doctoral Community of Practice to support post-doctoral researchers in the North of England Region.
This Community of Practice provides dedicated support and resources tailored to the needs of the community around topics such as career planning and development, joint appointments, host organisation commitment, grant writing support, networking opportunities, work-life balance, influencing practice whilst not working clinically, and imposter syndrome.
There are four interactive workshops over a 12‑month period, designed to explore and address the research career challenges identified by post-doctoral clinicians, with a balance of inputs from experienced post-doctoral researchers and experts and facilitated self-analysis experiential solutions.
This creates a post-doctoral support network (Community of Practice) that continues to meet and share ideas. We held the first workshop in January 2026, the next workshop is on the 5th June 2026 and further sessions are running throughout the year.
