Pre-doctoral Bridging Scheme 

The pre-doctoral bridging scheme award is for those who have completed a Masters level qualification (or evidence of postgraduate study at level 7) and are looking to further their practitioner academic career through doctoral level study and is designed to support those wishing to apply for the Advanced Clinical and Practitioner Academic Fellowship (ACAF), Doctoral Local Authority Fellowship (ALAF) or an equivalent opportunity.

These awards are free to successful applicants and offer protected study time over 6 months along with formal training and support.

The award includes:

• Protected time release for up to 50% of the applicant’s contracted NHS hours.

• Up to 3 full day workshops to develop skills in fellowship application development.

• A grant of £7,000 towards the cost of employer capacity support, training modules, travel expenses.
