About
I am HEMS Critical Care Paramedic with the Northwest Air Ambulance Charity and the Northwest Ambulance service. I work as part of a team of consultant Doctors, HEMS Critical Care Paramedics and ambulance service clinicians to provide enhanced prehospital care to the people of the northwest. As well as my patient facing role I also work in HEMS dispatch to coordinate resources and provide clinical advice when needed. As a specialist clinician I have a desire to grow the profession and both take part in and lead prehospital research. A large part of my role is supporting and mentoring colleagues, something which I see as a privilege and a honour. I have just completed an NHSE/NIHR research internship project and I am an active member of the Northwest Air Ambulance research and audit group, leading traumatic brain injury audit.

Research Experience and Background
I am a naturally curious person, who is always asking questions and my career so far supports this. I have a BSc in Human physiology which had a strong focus on research practice and publication focusing on applied physiology in extreme environments and clinical conditions which led me to to pursue a clinical career. Over the last 5 years in my current role, I have become the lead in traumatic brain injury audit, and helped in the development of an audit portfolio of the service. As well as leading and supervising service development projects with other healthcare disciplines. Several of these have been led to academic posters and oral presentation at national conferences. I have recently completed an NHSE/NIHR research internship which has provided an excellent foundation for research practice and allowed me to build my own capacity and capability for research. During which I have wrote a qualitative research proposal ready for submission and currently helping to work on an NIHR research grant application.
Clinical Experience
My clinical role is providing enhanced prehospital care to the people of the Northwest. I am a senior clinician in the organisation and deliver prehospital care in a hugely diverse range of situations. This includes trauma care, advanced life support, sedation, pain management, ultrasound, clinical support and many other emergency and urgent situations. I also autonomously administer blood products and support my consultant doctor colleagues in prehospital anaethesia and surgical procedures. Essentially taking the hospital to the patient. I have been in this role since 2021. Before that I worked as a paramedic with the north west ambulance service both on a double crewed ambualnce and the response vehicle, my last role being that of a developing senior paramedic/team leader. Leading a team of clincians and supporting and mentoring undergraduate students.
