About

Katy is a specialist upper limb physiotherapist, working with people with varied and often complex musculoskeletal conditions at Wrightington Hospital. Katy also works alongside consultant colleagues in clinic, reviewing people following surgery and supporting long-term shoulder and elbow arthroplasty follow up. Katy has published and presented at national scientific meetings. Her ongoing research interests include how information can empower people’s decision-making and improve their musculoskeletal health. Katy works two days a week with the WWL research team and is preparing an NIHR doctoral fellowship application.What motivates you to become a mentor?
Giving back to the clinical academic community that has supported me to develop.

Research Experience and Background
Applying for NIHR doctoral fellowship Spring 2026. Experience of NHS clinical research delivery, AHP CI / PI roles, basic qualitative research methods (focus groups / interview studies), collaborator on large NIHR HTA funded RCTs.

Clinical Experience
20 years as a physiotherapist, working in orthopaedics / MSK speciality. Currently an upper limb outpatient physio specialist.
