I am a physiotherapist with an interest in research capacity within NHS organisations and respiratory physiotherapy. I have completed several projects within and outside of my organisation, at present I am working on several projects in relation to different physiotherapy interventions across acute stroke, respiratory and critical care, in addition to this I am supporting a large trial as an associate principle investigator in respiratory medicine.

Research Experience and Background
I have experience in completing service evaluation, quality improvement and leading small research projects. I also have published research appraising systematic reviews in Physiotherapy. I have had research presented at two national physiotherapy conferences in research capacity and culture and unveiling physiotherapy evidence gaps in COPD interventions and regional conference with the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC NW). Having completed x2 programmes with R&D Northwest, currently completing the NIHR associate PI scheme and developing further applications with my research supervisory team, I consider myself an active clinical academic. I mentor several colleagues within my organisation and am a core member of our allied health professional innovation and research working group, in addition I am also one of our organisations Research Champions collaborating regularly with the R&D team. I have collaborated with ULAN and the ARC NW in several projects and lead a research workshop with these collaborates in March 2026.
Clinical Experience
I am a physiotherapist by background having worked in several acute areas including: acute stroke, stroke rehab, rehab, respiratory, gen med, hospital front door (A&E etc), ICU and Cardiac ICU. My expertise and specialist skills are respiratory focussed and thus my research has also been more focussed in this area of physiotherapy however I have supported work in neuro and MSK physiotherapy as well.
What motivates you to become a mentor?
To support others to start a research career and grow research capacity.
