Masterclass Series: Getting Started in Research

When and where?

9:30am – 5:30pm INSERT DATE AND YEAR AND LOCATION

Aim & content:

This workshop provided the opportunity to increase attendees understanding of the opportunities to develop research skills and expertise; provide an opportunity to develop a clear course of action; and develop an understanding of sources of funding and resources available to support career progression. There were presentations from the NIHR trainee co-ordinating centre and healthcare professionals at differing stages of their research career.

The masterclass series provided the opportunity to focus on an aspect of researcher development in more depth. These sessions were interactive workshops delivered face to face. All of the workshops were free to colleagues working in the NHS in the North West. For people working in academia or from outside of the region they were offered at a small charge.

Getting the right balance: resilience and self-leadership in research:

This class offered attendees a day to step back, re-align, and plan the next steps in their research, recognising the need to keep the balance right with work and the rest of life.  The day built on questions around what’s at stake, choosing perspective, finding confidence getting out of their own way, and identifying habits that help and habits that hinder. This process would energise them for the next step in their research journeys!
