Bridging from Clinical Lectureship to Senior Lectureship

When and where?

9.30am to 5pm on 27th September at Federation House in Manchester city centre.

Aim & content:

On behalf of HEE/NIHR, NHS R&D North West ran a one-day workshop to explore routes for clinical academics who already held a Clinical Lectureship and were looking to make the leap and apply for a Senior Clinical Lectureship.

The day included input from the NIHR, Research Design Service, and mentoring/coaching support. There were round table discussions about the academic journey, how to build skills, CV development, how to bridge from one level to the next, and the process more generally.

The day included feedback from the previous Chair’s report on applications to the scheme, including;

  • Methodological considerations and justification
  • Advanced planning and proposal development
  • Justification of linked projects
  • Ambition vs realism
  • PPI, plain English summaries
  • Costing, service support and treatment costs
  • Research leadership

This workshop was offered free of charge
