Announcing the Launch of the InRes Pilot Programme

In October, we proudly marked the beginning of a new pilot programme, InRes: An Introduction to Research. This is an exciting initiative aimed at building  research capacity across healthcare settings. With 16 participants from diverse professional backgrounds, the programme is designed to support and empower emerging practice-based researchers, creating a robust foundation for future healthcare innovations.

What is the InRes Pilot Programme?

InRes: An Introduction to Research, is a pioneering programme initiated by the NHS Research & Development North West in collaboration with the University of Liverpool. The programme is tailored to individuals working in health and care who aspire to move into the first steps in the research world while continuing their professional roles.

The programme will run from October 2024 – July 2025 with monthly online workshops supported by coaching and mentoring sessions. Participants engage with learning materials in advance of each workshop at a time most convenient to them. These materrials will then support the online group sessions.

Evidence shows that research active health organisations have better patient outcomes. Being involved in research helps to support staff retention and the InRes learning, as demonstrated in other NHS R&D NW programmes, can be shared with wider team members through the duration of the course.
